Our Mission
To achieve a stable, healthy river system that provides for abundant agricultural production, wildlife habitat, stable river banks, and high water quality conditions.
To achieve cooperative relations where the private landowners, county, state, and federal agencies maintain their lands and work cooperatively and openly to solve natural resource problems.
To assist local agricultural producers with protection of their surface water conveyance system.

What We Do
We encourage a stable, healthy, and sustainable river system that provides for our growing community and nation.

Floodplain Rehabilitation/Reseeding
Floodplain rehabilitation projects represent a crucial opportunity to restore and encourage beneficial use of severely degraded lands. This includes the river corridor, floodplains and agricultural lands.

Cooperative Weed Management
The weed control program involves plant identification, mapping, and prioritization of specific noxious weeds to help control and implement a treatment strategy.
NDOT Drainage and Storm-water Work
The district has a trial program with NDOT to assist with private property issues for drainage repairs and maintenance.
Channel Maintenance and Restoration
Along the Carson River, there are multiple areas that require stream bank stabilization and restoration. Within existing designated restoration sites, the district performs channel clearing, snagging, and routine maintenance to help protect both past and future engineered structures.

Nevada Youth Range Camp
The district continues to support local youth in attending this camp held annually during the month of June. Campers learn about plants, wildlife, water, and so much more!
Bioengineering/Erosion Control
Bioengineering provides habitat for wildlife in the water and along the river banks. It also stops sediment from being dumped into the river, which degrades water quality.

Testimonials
OUR SERVICES -EQUIPMENT RENTAL
The Carson Valley Conservation District works to help agriculture producers in a number of ways. One of the ways we are best able to help is through the rental of our farm equipment. Through this program we are able to provide local farmers and ranchers with implements that otherwise would not be readily available. In the event of a piece of equipment breaking down, the district is able to assist agriculturalists when they need it most.
