Conservation Technician

Duties:

You will assist professional staff in a variety of projects to include GIS mapping, herbicide application for noxious weeds, and other treatments of noxious weeds within Carson Valley Conservation District boundaries. River Restoration using bio-engineering techniques to stabilize riverbanks and reseeding of disturbed sites.

To Qualify:

 

Education and Experience: 

Experience in the treatment of noxious or invasive weeds and GIS mapping is a plus.

 High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Landscaping and erosion control experience a plus but is not required

 

Special Requirements:

            1.  A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting may be required.

            2.  A state of Nevada/FBI background check may be required of the selected applicant

            3.  Proof of a current state of Nevada driver’s license with a safe driving record.

            4.  To be eligible the applicant must be 18 years of age

 

Additional experience that may be beneficial, but is not required:

            1.  Weed mapping experience

            2.  GPS/GIS experience

            3.  Landscaping or erosion control experience

            4.  Equipment operating experience

            5.  Herbicide application experience/certification

 

Job Location:

1.  The job will be located in Minden & Gardnerville, Nevada.

2.  This is a full-time seasonal position currently funded for a 12 month term with the potential of additional time, depending upon future funding.  Hours per week up to 40.

 

Hours and Wages:

The Conservation Technician will have a starting salary of $13-$18 per hour, depending on experience of the applicant.  This position is a seasonal full-time (up to 40 hours per week) for a 12 month period beginning on February 1, 2021 with a possible extension.
